For me it's a tie between Malteser buns and fifteens for my favourite traybake so 'M' had to be Malteser buns!

Also, let me know are these just a Northern Irish bun or do you get them all over the UK?!

Top tips:

  • Use good quality chocolate for best results

  • I think the key to a good Malteser bun is to leave the Maltesers and Crunchie pretty chunky

  • These will keep in the fridge for about a week but I doubt they will last that long!

INGREDIENTS…

Makes 16

120g butter

4 tosp golden syrup

235g milk chocolate

225g digestive biscuits, crushed finely

186g Maltesers (2 share bags), 1 bag left whole, one bag crushed

4 Crunchie bars (135g), crushed but left quite chunky

To decorate:

180g white chocolate, melted

Extra Maltesers, crushed

INSTRUCTIONS…

• Line an 8x8 inch baking tin with baking paper.

Melt the syrup, chocolate and butter in a large saucepan over a low-medium heat stirring regularly. Once melted, leave to cool for 5 mins.

Top tip: pour boiling water over your spoon to heat it up and the syrup will just fall off the spoon!

• Add the crushed biscuits, Maltesers and crunchies into the chocolate mixture. Remember to add the whole Maltesers too.

• Press into the tin and smooth out.

• Melt the white chocolate in the microwave (30 sec intervals, stirring in between) and spread over the top evenly. Shake the tray to level out the chocolate.

• Decorate with crushed Maltesers.

• Set in the fridge for at least 2 hours but preferably overnight before cutting into squares using a really sharp knife.
