Motorcycle road racing enthusiasts are set for an adrenaline-packed weekend as the iconic Armoy Road Races will be streamed live for the very first time by BBC Sport NI on Saturday, 26 July 2025.
The landmark live broadcast will be available to UK audiences via BBC iPlayer, while international viewers can catch the action on the BBC Sport NI website.
Produced by Greenlight Television, this pilot initiative marks a major development for the Armoy Motorcycle Road Racing Club (AMRRC) as it looks to grow the international profile of the much-loved event.
Chairman of AMRRC, Gareth McAuley, hailed the breakthrough as a proud moment for the Club:
“This will give road racing fans access to one of the most popular events in the calendar. This is a fantastic development for the Armoy Road Races and something that the Club is very proud of.
“Our supporters are extremely passionate, travelling from all over Ireland, the United Kingdom and beyond to enjoy watching some of the sport’s best riders tackle the three-mile circuit, and now, thanks to BBC Sport NI’s live coverage, those from around the world that can’t make the event in person will be able to watch and enjoy the thrill of road racing.
“We’re gearing up for a busy two days and we’re grateful to Greenlight Television and BBC Sport NI for bringing it to fruition as a pilot this year.”
The weekend promises electrifying competition, with a line-up featuring some of the sport’s top names including Jamie Coward, 2024’s Man of the Meeting, as well as Dominic Herbertson, Michael Sweeney, Connor Cummins, Paul Jordan, Phil Crowe, and Mike Browne.

BBC Sport NI presenter Stephen Watson spoke of the significance of bringing the sport to new audiences:
“Road racing has such a huge legacy here and without doubt it’s one of Northern Ireland’s most loved sports and we have an immense amount of talent locally.
“We’re delighted to be working with Greenlight Television to bring live coverage of Saturday’s Armoy Road Races to households in Northern Ireland and around the world this year. It’s sure to be exhilarating viewing.”
The Armoy Road Races, supported in part by the Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, take place over Friday 25 and Saturday 26 July, with the highlight being the Bayview Hotel Race of Legends on Saturday.
The event is part of a wider Race Week celebration, which includes a classic car display in the village on Wednesday 23 July from 6pm, followed by a classic bike display on Thursday 24 July outside Tilly Molloy’s, also from 6pm.
As the engines roar and the roads close, thousands of fans—now joined by countless virtual spectators—are expected to witness a thrilling chapter in the legacy of road racing in Northern Ireland.
