The Department of Health has announced a series of public events across Northern Ireland as part of its ongoing consultation on the final report of the Regional Review of Neurology Services.
The initiative offers individuals, carers, and healthcare professionals the opportunity to shape the future of neurology provision.
Launched on 7 May, the public consultation will run until 6 August 2025. It centres on the findings and recommendations contained in the final report of the extensive regional review, which aims to improve the delivery and accessibility of neurology services throughout Northern Ireland.
Speaking at the launch, Health Minister Mike Nesbitt said:
“The report’s recommendations provide a roadmap to deliver an ambitious, long-term plan to drive improvements in services.”
To support this consultation process, the Department is hosting a series of in-person and virtual public engagement events designed to present the report’s findings, facilitate questions from attendees, and encourage feedback.
The first of these events will be held next week at the Clayton Hotel, Ormeau Avenue, Belfast, on Wednesday 29 May from 7pm to 9pm.
Further in-person meetings are scheduled at the following locations:
5 June – Silverbirch Hotel, Omagh (7pm–9pm)
25 June – Queen’s Hall, Newtownards (7pm–9pm)
3 July – Dunsilly Hotel, Antrim (7pm–9pm)
17 July – Canal Court Hotel, Newry (7pm–9pm)
In addition, two online consultation events will take place on:
9 July from 2pm to 4pm
23 July from 7pm to 9pm
These events are open to all members of the public. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn more about the proposed changes to neurology services, ask questions directly to Department of Health representatives, and offer feedback that will help shape final policy decisions.
Registration for any of the sessions can be made via Eventbrite. While pre-booking is optional, it is encouraged to help with planning.
The Department of Health has emphasised the importance of public input in shaping the final strategy. All consultation materials, including the full report and supporting documentation, are available at the Department’s official website.
Minister Nesbitt reaffirmed his commitment to listening to the voices of those impacted:
“The consultation responses will inform this plan.”
