Denny launches bacon made without nitrites in Northern Ireland, with ham to follow

Denny Smoked and Unsmoked Bacon Rashers, Carved Ham Slices and Carved Wafer Thin Ham Slices.

Bacon made without nitrites is being introduced to Northern Ireland supermarket shelves as Denny launches a four-product range, with ham slices due to follow in October.

The rollout began with smoked and unsmoked bacon rashers in Musgrave stores on Saturday 12 September. Both products are scheduled to reach Tesco stores in Northern Ireland on Monday 21 September.

Carved Ham Slices and Wafer Thin Carved Ham Slices will join the Tesco range on Monday 12 October, extending the choice to shoppers buying for sandwiches, lunchboxes and everyday meals.

Inside the new range

The four products carry Denny’s “Made Without Nitrites” description. The company also says the range contains no artificial preservatives.

Denny is positioning the launch as a response to demand for simpler ingredients. The announcement does not provide nutritional comparisons with its existing bacon and ham products or prices for the new range.

Denny responds to changing shopping habits

When and where to find it

For Northern Ireland shoppers, the announced launch dates are Saturday 12 September for both bacon varieties in Musgrave stores, Monday 21 September for the rashers in Tesco, and Monday 12 October for both ham products in Tesco.

In the Republic of Ireland, the bacon rollout began in Dunnes and Musgrave stores on Wednesday 9 September. Tesco’s launch dates there match those in Northern Ireland.
