The Belfast Half Marathon will take place this weekend, with thousands of runners expected to take to the streets on Sunday 21 September.

The race will begin at 9am from Ormeau Embankment, with participants set to return to the same location by approximately 12.30pm.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) has advised motorists and the public to plan ahead for potential travel disruption throughout the city.

A PSNI spokesperson said:

“The public is advised of some delays in and around the city for the duration of the event. Members of the public are asked to follow any signed diversions, follow the direction of police and race marshals and allow some extra time for your journey.”

The marathon is one of Belfast’s most popular sporting fixtures, attracting both elite competitors and fun runners, alongside large crowds of spectators.

Residents and visitors are encouraged to check their routes in advance, particularly if travelling through the city on Sunday morning.

The 2025 race will start on the Ormeau Embankment and take in the South, East, North and West of Belfast, including a new section in the East of the city.

The race will use more of the greenway, instead of Sydenham Bypass, before travelling through Victoria Park and into the Titanic Quarter.
