Woman sadly dies following collision involving pedestrian and car in Limavady

A woman aged in her 50s has sadly died following a collision involving a pedestrian and a car near Limavady.


The single-vehicle collision happened in the Drumrane Road area on Sunday afternoon, 16 August.



Woman died from her injuries


Detective Inspector Stewart, from the Police Service of Northern Ireland’s Collision Investigation Unit, said:


“Police received a report at around 2.50pm of a collision involving a pedestrian and a car in the Drumrane Road area.


“Officers, along with colleagues from the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service attended and medical treatment was provided at the scene. However, sadly, the woman passed away from her injuries a short time later.”


Drumrane Road was closed for a period following the collision but has since reopened.



Police appeal for witnesses and footage


Police enquiries into the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death are continuing.


Detective Inspector Stewart added:


“Our enquiries are continuing and we would appeal to anyone who witnessed the collision, or who may have any information which could assist with our investigation – including dash-cam or other footage – to contact the Collision Investigation Unit on 101, quoting reference number 926 of 16/08/26.”
