An 85-year-old woman has died following a two-vehicle road traffic collision in Coleraine.

Police have named the woman as Maud Kerr, from the Macosquin area.

The collision happened on the Windyhill Road at approximately 12.30pm on Saturday, 12 September.

Man remains in hospital

Detective Inspector Stewart, from the Police Service of Northern Ireland’s Collision Investigation Unit, said:

“At approximately 12.30pm, we received a report of a two-vehicle collision on the Windyhill Road.

“Officers attended, alongside colleagues from other emergency services, but sadly Mrs Kerr died at the scene.

“A man, aged in his 80s remains in a stable condition in hospital.

“The Windyhill Road, which was closed for a time, has now fully reopened.”

Police appeal for witnesses and footage

Police are now appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision, or who may have relevant dash-cam or other footage, to come forward as detectives investigate the circumstances.

Detective Inspector Stewart added:

The investigation into the collision is continuing, with police particularly keen to hear from anyone who was travelling on or near the Windyhill Road around the time it happened and may have information or footage that could assist detectives.
