One man hospitalised after single-vehicle crash near Cargan

The scene on Sunday afternoon as emergency service crews responded to a single vehicle collision near Cargan, County Antrim.

The Glenravel Road between Ballymena and Cushendall remains closed following a serious single-vehicle road traffic collision on Sunday afternoon, 21st September 2025.
Police confirmed the closure is in place in both directions at its junctions with Rockfield Row and Ballyemon Road, advising motorists to seek alternative routes.
Emergency services, including Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service (NIFRS) crews from Cushendall and Ballymena fire stations, responded to the incident outside Cargan.

NI Air Ambulance was tasked to the scene of the collision

A spokesperson for the NIFRS said:
“This afternoon, crews from Cushendall and Ballymena attended a single vehicle road traffic collision outside Cargan.
“One male casualty was treated at the scene and taken to hospital. A special thanks must be made to two off duty firefighters from Cushendall Station and an off duty doctor who rendered first aid at the scene.
“Due to the nature of the incident interagency working with Northern Ireland Ambulance Service, Police Service of Northern Ireland and Air Ambulance Northern Ireland was essential.”


The man’s condition has not yet been confirmed.
The road remains closed while emergency services deal with the aftermath of the collision.
