On the run up to the Northern Ireland Assembly Elections on Thursday 5 May, we have invited all candidates standing in North Antrim to share a ‘message to voters’.

You will find a link to other candidates message to voters at the bottom of this page.

From Paul Frew - DUP candidate for North Antrim

North Antrim is a great place to live, work and raise a family. It’s one of the best infact. But we haven’t yet reached our full potential.

Our people need laws that are just, and the freedom to thrive.

When every step into the future has to be the correct one, we need courage, strength, determination and commitment, and I can clearly see the path to success.

I have made great strides in the Assembly changing lives in a positive way. I have been the champion for meaningful reform, pushing for open, transparent and accountable Government at all times.

I was responsible for bringing into law The Child Protection Disclosure Scheme to keep children safe, as well as bringing in tougher sentences for assaulting ambulance staff.

As Chairperson of the All Party Working Group on Domestic and Sexual Violence, I have been one of the driving forces in achieving Domestic Violence and Stalking Legislation.

We need to reform our health service so that the system supports our amazing staff enabling them to assist and save more people.

We need to continue to expand our economy to create new and better jobs in a wider field including STEM subjects, apprenticeships and tourism, particularly in North Antrim.

We need to continue to support our world class schools and the marvellous teaching staff who help mould our children, and we need to deliver for hard working parents in this stressful time of uncertainty and rising costs.

We need to ensure that Northern Ireland is best placed to make its way in the world and our people have the best of opportunities.

We need an Assembly that will work for you not against you.

The courage and strength to speak truth to power.

Integrity to scrutinise all decisions properly.

Determination and commitment to see objectives through to the very end.

With your help I have achieved so much in the last 12 years.

Let’s continue this journey together.
