North Antrim MLA Paul Frew at Chestnutt Hall
North Antrim MLA Paul Frew has welcomed the completion of long-awaited road and footpath works at the Chestnutt Hall development in Ballymena, following concerns raised by local residents.
Mr Frew said he had been approached by a number of homeowners in the estate who reported issues including raised ironworks and incomplete road and footpath surfaces.
After visiting the site, he said it was clear the situation was causing difficulty for residents and reflected a wider pattern seen across Northern Ireland.
Speaking, Mr Frew remarked:
“After speaking with a number of residents living in the Chestnutt Hall estate in Ballymena it was brought to my attention that issues remained in the development regarding raised ironworks and completion of the footpaths and roads.
“After visiting the area and having a look at the outstanding issues it was clear that these issues posed significant challenges for the residents that is replicated across the Country.”
The MLA said he immediately raised the matter with the Department for Infrastructure, prompting a prompt response from officials and the contractor responsible for the outstanding works.
He added:
“After I raised the issue with the relevant Department, I am happy to report that the contractor commenced completing the remaining maintenance work in the development. I want to thank the Department for Infrastructure and the contractor for their swift response in responding to me and resolving these issues for my constituents.”
The completion of these works brings the development in line with expected standards and has been welcomed by local residents who had long campaigned for action.
