Runners are gearing up for the return of one of Northern Ireland’s most scenic road races, as the Marconi 5K Run returns to Ballycastle on Sunday, 25 May 2025.

The route this year is particularly accessible for participants of all levels and abilities. Organised by the Ballycastle Runners, this year’s race will offer a flat, fast 5K route, making it an ideal choice for first-timers, families, casual joggers, and competitive athletes alike.

The event will kick off at 10am from the tennis courts along Ballycastle’s stunning seafront, setting runners on a route celebrated for its panoramic views of the Causeway Coast.

“The Marconi Run is a highlight of the local calendar, offering a fantastic opportunity to enjoy the stunning scenery of the Causeway Coast while challenging yourself,” said Michael Stewart, Chairman of Ballycastle Runners.

Many participants describe the annual run as offering the perfect setting for setting a personal best or simply enjoying a relaxed, scenic run. With coastal air, open views, and a welcoming local crowd, the 5K offers a unique mix of athleticism and atmosphere.

Every runner will receive a bespoke medal, custom-designed for the 2025 race – a cherished memento that has become a hallmark of the event. In addition to medals, prizes will be awarded to the top three male and female finishers, along with winners across multiple age categories, ensuring recognition across a wide range of abilities.

The post-race picnic, a much-loved tradition of the Marconi Run, will return this year, inviting runners, families, and supporters to unwind and socialise in a relaxed, community-focused setting.

With strong interest already building, organisers are encouraging early sign-ups to avoid missing out on this popular event.

Combining flat terrain, coastal charm, and a welcoming atmosphere, the 2025 Marconi 5K Run is set to once again shine as a highlight of the local sporting calendar.
