End of an era as Portglenone Primary bids emotional farewell to Vice Principal Patricia Goldring

St Mary’s Primary School in Portglenone has said a heartfelt goodbye to a cherished member of staff this week as Vice Principal Patricia Goldring retires after more than two decades of dedicated service.
Mrs Goldring, who spent 21 years shaping the lives of countless pupils, has been celebrated for her compassion, commitment, and lasting impact on the school community. Known for her warmth and tireless work ethic, she leaves behind a legacy treasured by colleagues, students and parents alike.
In a moving tribute held at the school, each class came together to honour Mrs Goldring’s remarkable career. Pupils performed songs, poems, and heartfelt messages, drawing both tears and smiles from those in attendance.



“Today marked the end of an era at St Mary’s PS Portglenone as we celebrated the incredible career of Mrs Goldring — our much-loved teacher and vice principal for the past 21 years,” a school spokesperson said.
“Her dedication, kindness, and unwavering support have touched the lives of so many pupils, staff, and families over the years, leaving a legacy that will be cherished for generations.”
The school expressed gratitude to the staff who helped organise what was described as a “beautiful and fitting send-off”, as well as to Mrs Goldring’s husband Maurice and daughter Maria, who joined the celebrations.



Looking ahead to her next chapter, Patricia plans to spend her well-earned retirement enjoying travel, adventure and rest. The school community offered their warmest wishes for the future.
“As Mrs Goldring sets off on her well-earned retirement, we wish her every health and happiness in this exciting new chapter filled with travel, adventure, and well-deserved rest,” the statement added.


“You’ll always be part of the St Mary’s family. We know she won’t be a stranger!”
