CAFRE Greenmount Open Day to showcase agriculture and engineering career opportunities

Young people considering a future in agriculture, agri-food or land-based engineering will have the chance to explore courses, career opportunities and campus life at a special Open Day at CAFRE’s Greenmount Campus next month.
The College of Agriculture, Food and Rural Enterprise (CAFRE) will welcome prospective students to its Antrim campus on Friday 9 October 2026, with tours, presentations and demonstrations giving visitors an insight into studying and training for careers across the land-based industries.
The event is aimed not only at school leavers but also career changers and lifelong learners considering further or higher education.

Demonstrating the use of technology in their studies are Level 3 Agriculture students Louis Clarke (Magherafelt) and Grace Gillespie (Antrim).
Visitors will be able to explore Greenmount’s specialist agricultural education facilities and learn more about CAFRE’s Agriculture and Land-based Engineering programmes.
Staff will be on hand to discuss individual courses, modules, eligibility and application requirements, as well as potential employment opportunities after completing a programme.
The programme for the Open Day will include presentations, farm tours and demonstrations, with visitors able to see facilities including laboratories and workshops.
Campus tours will also offer prospective students a closer look at student life and the facilities they could be using if they choose to study at Greenmount.
Current students will be available to share their experiences, while visitors can find out about student support including accommodation, fees and bursaries.
Courses from Level 2 to degree study
Agriculture Lecturer Jack Stewart led a tour of the dairy centre at Greenmount Campus to potential higher education applicants at a previous Open Day.

CAFRE has more than 100 years of experience delivering agri-food and land-based education and offers programmes at a range of levels.
These extend from Level 2 courses through to Foundation and Honours Degrees validated by Ulster University. CAFRE also offers a revised postgraduate programme in Strategic Leadership for Agri-Food, validated by Queen’s University Belfast.
The college says more than 95% of its students are employed or undertaking further study within six months of completing their course.
CAFRE also has links with industry partners, with £106,000 awarded in bursaries and scholarships during 2026 to students studying degree courses at the college.
