Ballymoney is preparing to burst into life this April as a colourful carnival, live music, and a packed programme of family-friendly events transform the town for a three-day Spring Fair celebration.

Organised by Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, with support from Ballymoney Chamber of Commerce and FUSE FM, the Ballymoney Spring Fair will run from Thursday 16th to Saturday 18th April 2026—bringing together heritage, entertainment, and community spirit in one lively weekend.

Launching the event, Mayor Councillor Oliver McMullan said:

“I’m really pleased to see the Ballymoney Spring Fair return for 2026. It’s a great opportunity to celebrate everything that makes Causeway Coast and Glens so special – our strong communities, local businesses and shared sense of pride in where we live.

“I would encourage everyone to come along and be part of the festivities, support local businesses and enjoy everything Ballymoney has to offer. With such a varied programme of entertainment and activities, the Spring Fair promises a memorable weekend for residents and visitors of all ages.”

Festivities kick off on Thursday morning with a heritage walk led by Keith Beattie, exploring the history of the “tap an’ bottom o’ the Toon.”

The afternoon continues with a screening of The Greatest Showman at Ballymoney Town Hall, followed by the return of the much-loved Tea Dance at a new venue, the British Legion. The opening night rounds off with a lively ceilidh session in the Diamond Bar.

Music, markets and family fun

Friday builds momentum with another guided heritage walk, this time along Meeting House Street and Castle Street, before entertainment takes centre stage in Castlecroft.

From 11am, visitors can enjoy live broadcasts from FUSE FM alongside Ballymoney Country Market, while country tribute performer Jason Hughes takes to the stage from 1pm to 3pm as Ireland’s own Garth Brooks.

For younger audiences, a screening of Smurfs will take place at the Town Hall in the afternoon.

Meanwhile, Benvarden Gardens will open specially for the Spring Fair across Friday and Saturday, offering visitors a chance to explore its historic estate, stroll through walled gardens, and relax in its tearoom.

Saturday begins with a dedicated Quiet Time Session from 11am to 12 noon, ensuring individuals with additional needs can enjoy attractions such as Kidz Farm and carnival games in a calmer environment.

From late morning, the town centre will be transformed as Ballymoney Country Market takes over the streets, accompanied by live music, family entertainment, and the traditional Maypole dance at midday on High Street.

Dog lovers can head to Taggarts Yard, where Ravara Obedience and Agility Club will showcase agility displays—while also inviting visitors to try the obstacle course with their own pets.

Vintage enthusiasts are also catered for, with displays from Ballymoney Old Vehicle Club in Station Square, alongside a local haulier’s truck showcase at the Grease Pit.

The Spring Fair will then reach its peak with a vibrant carnival parade departing from the Town Hall at 3.30pm. Featuring music, colour and performance, the procession will wind through High Street and Main Street before returning to Townhead Street—offering a lively spectacle for crowds of all ages.

Alongside the entertainment, visitors can explore Ballymoney Country Market stalls, browse independent boutiques, and take advantage of special Spring Fair promotions from local businesses.
