Woman dies following bus and car collision in Co Antrim

A woman has died following a road traffic collision involving a bus and a car on the Ballyrobin Road in Templepatrick on Saturday, February 14, the Police Service of Northern Ireland has confirmed.


The fatal crash occurred at approximately 8:00am and involved a bus and a black Citroen C1. Emergency services attended the scene, but sadly the driver of the car was pronounced dead.



Detective Inspector Stewart from the Collision Investigation Unit said:


“Police received a report of a two vehicle collision, involving a bus and a black Citroen C1, at approximately 8:00am on Saturday morning.


“Officers attended alongside emergency services partners, however the driver of the Citroen was tragically pronounced deceased at the scene.



“The driver of the bus, a man in his sixties, was taken to hospital with serious injuries which are not believed to be life threatening.


“The Ballyrobin Road remains closed at this time.


“Our enquiries are continuing, and we would appeal to anyone who witnessed the collision, or who may have digital footage which could assist with our investigation, to contact the Collision Investigation Unit on 101, quoting reference number 341 14/02/26.



Road Closure Remains in Place


The Ballyrobin Road, a key route linking Templepatrick with Belfast International Airport, remains closed while police conduct enquiries at the scene.


The closure is likely to continue to affect motorists in the area, particularly those travelling to and from the airport, with diversions remaining in place.


Appeal for Witnesses


The PSNI has urged anyone who was in the area at the time of the collision, or who may have dashcam or other digital footage, to come forward as detectives continue to investigate the circumstances of the crash.
