Ballymena artist Carly Wright is delighted to reveal her latest collection of paintings.
Entitled ‘Warriors: Courage, Bravery and Honour’, the three-piece collection continues on a theme that is close to the heart of the local painter, showcasing a battle faced by almost everyone, if not all, and the indomitable human heart that refuses to quit, even under pain and pressure.
The paintings, full of colour and character, evoke the strength of that human spirit and inspire hope to believe and to never give up on the battlefield of mental health.
Launching the her latest amazing work, talented Carly who has known her own unique, yet shared experience of struggle, has once again perfectly painted both the pain and strength on the face of the warrior.
Carly recently visited Cushendun Caves, County Antrim, famous for being featured in the global TV hit series Game Of Thrones.
“It felt like the perfect location, one that I searched weeks to find,” said Carly. “The essence of my paintings felt at home here on the rugged, and at times, stormy Antrim coast.
“My painted Warriors felt at ease in the scene where Game Of Thrones was filmed. The battles, pain, defeats and triumphs all echo the human experience.”
Carly continued:
“It is my hope that these latest works will continue to highlight the importance of looking after our mental health and also emphasise the shared struggles that we all face in life.
“I hope that when people look through the eyes of the Warriors they will get to see and feel a small glimpse of the soul - it takes courage to cry, it takes bravery to be vulnerable and allow others to see, and it is honourable to show your heart in a world we are trained to hide our feelings, the truth of who we truly are, and the struggles that we all have faced.
“In Warriors: Courage, Bravery and Honour I have attempted to capture the strength of the soul and inspire those who see to keep getting up even when they fail. Beyond that, warriors are those who stand for others when they can’t stand for themselves, and build walls of strength and protection for those who are where we once were.
“These paintings are for the warriors in our world.”
Carly Wright has a studio in Ballymena town centre where Warriors and other works can be viewed
