The Traditional Unionist Voice (TUV) has praised this year’s Twelfth of July celebrations as one of the most successful and peaceful in recent memory.

The Party’s culture spokesperson Councillor Matthew Warwick commended the Orange Order and wider loyalist community for what he described as a dignified and family-friendly expression of unionist heritage.

In a statement issued today, Tuesday 15 July, Councillor Warwick said:

“Once again, our community has delivered — and delivered in a way that should make every unionist proud. This year’s Twelfth has passed without incident right across Northern Ireland. No disorder, no injuries, no trouble — just tens of thousands of people coming together to celebrate our history, our faith, and our culture in a peaceful, family-friendly atmosphere.”

He offered particular thanks to the Orange Order, praising the “huge effort” put into planning and stewarding 18 demonstrations across the Province.

“From the first drumbeat in the morning to the last parade home, the Order delivered a dignified, proud celebration of our heritage.”

Councillor Warwick also recognised the host districts for their role in boosting local economies and creating welcoming, festive atmospheres:

“They gave unionism a real boost, showing the wider world a united, confident people with nothing to apologise for and every reason to be proud.”

Highlighting the scale and significance of the Scarva Sham Fight and parade, he lamented the lack of coverage from mainstream outlets, but insisted the public response spoke for itself:

“It was a brilliant day, marked by respect, tradition, and good spirit and was the biggest one yet.”

Challenging those who anticipate trouble each year, the TUV councillor said the celebrations once again disproved negative stereotypes:

“Every year, ordinary loyalists, Orangemen and women and not forgetting our bands prove the critics wrong. This year was no different.”

He concluded by describing the peaceful success of this year’s Twelfth as not just a cultural win, but a political one:

“It shows we are a community that is mature, responsible, and confident in who we are. Despite every attempt to demonise our culture, it remains as strong as ever — rooted in faith, family, and freedom.”
