The Translink Staff Charity Fund has made a donation towards new equipment for Hanwood Football Team.

The Team for children aged between 7-14 with Down Syndrome, trains every week with players heralding from across Ballymena, Belfast, Lisburn, Downpatrick and Donaghadee.

Speaking about the donation Sionainn McConville, Translink NI Railways said:

“At Translink we’re committed to supporting children and young people’s development and wellbeing. In particular, we value the importance of promoting an active and healthy lifestyle – something that Hanwood Football Team is all about.

"I’d also like to pay tribute to all the coaches who train, motivate and inspire these players to be the best they can be.

"This support is exactly what the Translink Staff Charity Fund is all about where we can make a big impact on local children and young people in support of Translink’s core themes of GO Healthy and GO Together.”

The transport operator’s employees raise the funds through their payroll Give As You Earn Scheme which supports local charities that are focused on key issues including mental and physical health, food support, older and younger people.
