TUV Bannside Alderman Stewart McDonald has issued a strong call for an end to incidents of anti-social behaviour in Ahoghill, following repeated attacks on a local home.
The property has reportedly been targeted with eggs on multiple occasions, causing distress to the family living there.
Alderman McDonald said he was “deeply troubled by the recent incidents of anti-social behaviour in Ahoghill, including the repeated targeting of a local home with eggs”.
He added:
“The family who live there are hardworking people – the father works night shifts – and they deserve to be left in peace. This is especially important when one considers that the house is also home to a young girl.”
Expressing his frustration, he continued:
“I know I speak for local people when I say clearly: this behaviour must stop immediately.
“While I fear it may be a lost cause appealing to those responsible to show a sense of decency, I trust that by going public and making it known that the police are now investigating, those behind these attacks may at least stop out of self-preservation.”
The Alderman also appealed for wider community vigilance, urging residents to support one another.
“I would appeal to everyone in the community to keep an eye out for their neighbours and to report anything suspicious to the police. I would also ask parents to be mindful of where their children are and what they are doing.”
The PSNI are understood to be investigating the incidents.
