Residents of a housing development in Broughshane have seen road surfacing work completed following complaints about the condition of roads and footpaths in their neighbourhood.

North Antrim DUP MLA Paul Frew said the work at Knowehead Close followed his intervention with the Department for Infrastructure (DfI) Roads and NI Water after residents raised concerns about delays in completing the surfaces.

The MLA welcomed the progress, saying discussions involving the relevant authorities and developers had helped move the matter forward.

Residents raise concerns over unfinished surfaces

Mr Frew said he had contacted both DfI Roads and NI Water to establish why the necessary work had not been carried out and to request that it be completed as soon as possible.

He explained:

“After being contacted by residents of Knowehead Close complaining about the roads and footpaths not being properly surfaced, I contacted both DFI Roads and NI Water to ascertain what the delay was and requested that the necessary works be carried out as soon as possible.”

Mr Frew confirmed that road surfacing had since been completed at the development following discussions with officials and the developers.

He said:

“I am delighted that following discussions with officials in DFI Roads, NI water and the developers that progress has been made and road surfacing work has been completed in the development.”

Thanking those involved, he added:

“I want to thank all the partners involved for the progress on this matter; this will be much appreciated by the residents of Knowehead Close.”

The MLA also emphasised the importance of addressing everyday issues affecting local neighbourhoods.

“No job or issue is too big or small, and it is great to see local work and progress that makes such a difference to our communities.”
