A new portrait of the Rt Hon Peter Robinson, former First Minister of Northern Ireland, has been formally unveiled at Parliament Buildings.
The ceremony, held on Tuesday 24 June 2025 in the Great Hall at Stormont, was hosted by the Speaker of the Northern Ireland Assembly, Edwin Poots MLA. The portrait, a striking work by renowned local artist Carol Graham, marks the latest addition to the Assembly’s permanent art collection.

Mr Robinson served as First Minister from 2008 to 2016 and played a significant role in Northern Ireland’s political development during a pivotal period in its history.
Speaking at the event, Speaker Edwin Poots MLA praised Mr Robinson’s contribution to public life and acknowledged the lasting impact of his leadership.
The portrait, painted by Carol Graham—well known for her evocative and insightful depictions of public figures—was warmly received by those in attendance, including political colleagues and invited guests.

The unveiling marks a continuation of the tradition of commemorating past leaders within the formal setting of the Great Hall. The artwork now joins portraits of other former First Ministers and key figures in Northern Ireland’s governance.
Carol Graham, whose previous work includes portraits of former Lord Chief Justices and prominent academics, expressed pride in being commissioned for the project. Her work is recognised for capturing both the public stature and personal character of her subjects.
This portrait serves not only as a tribute to Peter Robinson’s time in office but also as a reflection of the evolving political landscape of Northern Ireland.
