A man armed with a knife was subdued with a police Taser after officers responded to a violent altercation involving weapons at flats in north Belfast during the early hours of Friday morning.
Police say two men were allegedly attacking each other with weapons inside the communal area of Brookfield Mill flats in the Crumlin Road area shortly after midnight on Friday, June 5.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found a 44-year-old man with a head injury who was allegedly armed with a knife.
The incident escalated further when police deployed a Conducted Energy Device — commonly known as a Taser — to bring the man under control before arresting him.
The use of the Taser has automatically triggered notification to the Police Ombudsman’s Office, as is standard procedure following such incidents involving police force.

Both men remained in police custody on Friday as detectives continued enquiries into the incident.
The confrontation unfolded in a communal area of the apartment complex, raising concerns over the seriousness of the violence and the potential danger posed to residents living nearby at the time.
