Police confirm man sadly died following collision in Rasharkin

Craig’s Road, Rasharkin

Police have confirmed that a man sadly died on Wednesday afternoon following a road traffic collision on Craig's Road, Rasharkin.


The collision occurred after 1:00pm and is understood to have involved a pedestrian and a lorry.


A small number of people came across the incident and CPR was administered to the casualty until the emergency services arrived, but despite best efforts the man passed away at the scene.



A police spokesperson:


"Police were called to the scene of a sudden death of a man in the Craigs Road area of Rasharkin on Wednesday 10th January.


"The death is not being treated as suspicious."



A Northern Ireland Ambulance Service (NIAS) spokesperson added:


"The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service received a 999 call at 1:26pm on Wednesday 10th January following reports of an RTC in the Craigs Road area, Rasharkin.


"NIAS despatched an Emergency Crew, two Rapid Response Paramedics, two Doctors and one Ambulance Officer. Following assessment and initial treatment at the scene, no patients were taken from the scene."


The road was closed for a number of hours following the collision, but has since reopened.
