Police have confirmed that a woman in her 30s was found dead beside a burning car in Omagh on Friday afternoon, and her death is no longer being treated as suspicious.

Emergency services were called to the Rylagh Road area shortly before 2.05pm on Friday, 2 August, following reports from the Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service that a silver Mitsubishi Lancer GS2 was on fire.

As firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze, the body of a woman was discovered beside the vehicle.

In the immediate aftermath, police launched an investigation, treating the fire as arson and appealing for witnesses. However, a post-mortem examination has now concluded, and the woman’s family has been informed.

A police spokesperson said:

“At this stage, her death is not believed to be suspicious.”
