Police in Northern Ireland are urgently appealing for witnesses following a serious road traffic collision in Ballygawley, County Tyrone, which has left a motorcyclist with potentially life-changing injuries.

The incident, which occurred on Aghnagar Road on the evening of Thursday, 1 May 2025, involved a silver KIA car and a motorcycle.

According to Sergeant Laverty, “At around 8:25pm, it was reported that a silver coloured KIA car and a motorcycle were involved in the collision. The motorcyclist, a man in his 30s, was taken to hospital for treatment to injuries that are described as potentially life changing.”

A 23-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing grievous bodily injury by dangerous driving, driving whilst unfit, driving while disqualified, and using a motor vehicle without insurance.

Sergeant Laverty confirmed that the suspect “remains in police custody at this time.”

The Aghnagar Road was temporarily closed to allow police to conduct their initial investigation and ensure the safety of the public. The road has since reopened, but enquiries into the circumstances of the collision are ongoing.

Police are now appealing to the public for assistance in piecing together the events leading up to the crash.
