Police and forensic officers are in attendance today (Wednesday, 24 December) at the scene of a sudden death in Ballymena.

Officers were called to a residential property on Moat Road, in the Harryville area of the town, earlier today. The area remains cordoned off while enquiries continue.

Witnesses reported seeing police vehicles and forensic personnel at a home in the Moat Road area, prompting concern among local residents. The incident has drawn attention in what is typically a quiet residential part of the town, particularly on Christmas Eve when families across the community are preparing for the festive period.

A police spokesperson confirmed officers are currently at the scene.

“Police are currently at the scene of a sudden death in the Moat Road area of Ballymena. An update will be provided in due course.”

At this stage, no further details have been released and police have not confirmed the circumstances surrounding the death. Enquiries remain ongoing, and officers are expected to remain in the area while initial investigative steps are completed.

Residents in the Harryville area described a visible police presence throughout the day, with some expressing sympathy for those affected. As is standard procedure, forensic officers are assisting police as part of the investigation.

Police have indicated that further information will be shared when available.
