Police are advising road users to expect traffic delays in Rasharkin this Friday 23 August, due to a planned parade.
Ballymaconnelly Sons of Conquerors Flute Band will hold their annual parade in the village tomorrow evening, leaving the Turnpike on Church Road at 7:15pm. The parade will proceed via Main Street, Moneyleck Road, and Bann Road before finishing up at Turnpike.
It is anticipated that the parade will be finish by 9:15pm.
According to parade organisers, 24 bands have been invited to the event, including:
Tullaghans Sons of Liberty, Drumaheagles Young Defenders, Dunloy Accordion Band, Stranocum Flute Band, Dunaghy Flute Band, Benvarden Flute Band, Ballyquin Loyal Sons of Ulster, Pride of Orange Ballynarrig, Pride of the Bann Flute Band, Crown Defenders Cloughmills, Ballykeel Loyal Sons of Ulster, Pride of the Maine Flute Band, Ballee Flute Band, Cairncastle Flute Band, Pride Of The Park Flute Band, Boveedy Flute Band, Moneydig Young Conquerors, Giants Causeway Protestant Boys, Dunamoney Flute Band, Maghera Sons Of William, Craiganee Accordian Band, Killycoogan Accordion Band, Blackhill Accordion Band, and North Ballymena Protestant Boys.
A spokesperson for the Police Service of Northern Ireland commented:
“It is anticipated that a number of roads in and around the village will be closed for a period of time.
“Officers will be on the ground to assist with the flow of traffic and local diversions will be in place between 6.30pm and 9pm.
“If you do not plan on attending the parade, please seek an alternative route for your journey to avoid any potential delays.”
