Former Ulsterbus parking site in Cushendall
Plans for valet parking at a former Ulsterbus parking site in Cushendall have been submitted to Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council.
The proposal seeks a change of use at the former parking site on Ballyemon Road in the village and has recently been lodged via the council’s planning portal.
According to an accompanying Design and Access Statement, the proposal is linked to separate plans for alterations and an extension to the Glens Hotel.

The site lies outside the settlement development limit but within the Cushendall Conservation Area and is described as being in a “central and accessible location”.
“The proposal ensures the continued use of an existing developed site,” the statement said. “The valet system ensures efficient land use, reduced on-street parking demand in the town centre, and an improved arrival experience for hotel guests and visitors.
“The site reuses existing infrastructure, limiting environmental impact, and no new surfacing or drainage changes are proposed.
“This proposal to reuse an existing parking facility to provide supplementary parking for an associated hotel application is entirely appropriate for the location and consistent with policy requirements.

“Whilst not dependent on this additional parking provision, the existing facility provides a unique opportunity to offer a valet and coach parking service during peak times.
“This is a wholly appropriate and complementary use that supports the sustainable redevelopment of an existing site.”
