Education Minister Paul Givan has praised the hard work and dedication of students across Northern Ireland as they received their BTEC, AS and A level examination results today.
Official figures show that around a third of A level candidates achieved the top A* to A grades, with Northern Ireland continuing to lead the UK in performance at these levels. Overall, 98.7% of students attained grades A* to E.
Speaking during a visit to Rathmore Grammar School, Mr Givan commended the achievements of young people across the country.
“Congratulations to all of the young people receiving their results today. Their dedication and hard work have truly paid off, and the grades they have achieved are a testament to their commitment and endeavour,” he said.

The Minister highlighted that the results not only reflect the students’ personal effort but also the strength of the education system in Northern Ireland.
“Once again, our pupils have delivered an outstanding performance. I wish each of them every success as they take the next step in their journey, whether that is further education, employment, or training.”
However, he also offered reassurance to those whose grades may not have met their expectations.
“Some students may find that their results are not quite what they had hoped for, and I want to reassure them not to lose heart. This is just one part of a much bigger journey. There are many routes available for those still considering their next steps. I encourage them to seek guidance from their school, explore the wide range of opportunities available and take the time they need to make informed decisions.”
The Minister also took the opportunity to recognise the role of educators in delivering these outcomes.
“I also want to acknowledge and pay tribute to all the teachers across Northern Ireland who continue to work tirelessly to be at the centre of delivering successful education outcomes for our young people. Today’s results are testament to their commitment, dedication and passion to shaping the futures of our young people.”
Results day marks a significant milestone for thousands of students across Northern Ireland, with many now finalising university places, apprenticeships, or other career pathways.
The Department of Education has reminded students that support and guidance are available through schools, colleges, and careers services.
