The North West 200, Northern Ireland’s premier outdoor sporting event, is poised to draw approximately 180,000 visitors to the North Coast from May 5 to 10, 2025, delivering a significant economic uplift to the region.
Backed with a funding boost from Tourism Northern Ireland’s International Tourism Events Fund (ITEF), the iconic motorcycle road racing event is expected to generate nearly £10 million for the local economy, cementing its status as a cornerstone of Northern Ireland’s tourism and sporting calendar.
Held across the picturesque towns of Portrush, Portstewart, and Coleraine, the North West 200 attracts top-tier international and national road racers to the renowned Triangle circuit.
The event’s global appeal is underscored by its staggering 1.8 billion media reach, achieved through live streaming and television broadcasts, which generated £25.4 million in media exposure last year alone. This unparalleled visibility positions Northern Ireland as a must-visit destination on the world stage.
