Colin Crawford, Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) for North Antrim, has expressed his delight at the enthusiastic response to his recent Easter Colouring Competition, which saw hundreds of vibrant entries from primary school children across the constituency.

The artwork, showcasing the remarkable creativity of young pupils, is now proudly displayed in Mr Crawford’s Constituency Office in Ballymena, transforming the space into a gallery of colourful designs.

The competition, aimed at fostering creativity and engaging young people in North Antrim, invited primary school children to submit their Easter-themed artwork. The response was overwhelming, with schools from across the region submitting a dazzling array of colourful drawings and paintings.

Speaking about the initiative, Mr Crawford said:

“I’ve been absolutely delighted by the incredible response from our local schools. The creativity and effort shown by the children has been fantastic. It’s been a real joy to see our office brightened up by their colourful Easter designs. The talent on display is something to be celebrated.”

On Friday, 18 April, a panel carefully selected the winners from the impressive pool of entries. Mr Crawford will personally contact the winning schools to arrange the delivery of prizes, which he hopes to present in person.

“A huge thank you to all the pupils and teachers who took the time to get involved, and congratulations to our winners!” he said. “I look forward to delivering the prizes and meeting the winners in person.”

The Easter Colouring Competition is part of Mr Crawford’s broader efforts to connect with young people in North Antrim and promote creative expression within the community. By engaging directly with schools, the MLA aims to inspire the next generation and celebrate the talents of the constituency’s youngest residents.

The initiative has been warmly received, with teachers and pupils alike praising the opportunity to showcase their artistic skills.

The display of artwork in the Ballymena Constituency Office will remain open for visitors, offering the public a chance to admire the children’s creations. Mr Crawford’s team has encouraged local residents to stop by and view the exhibition, which serves as a testament to the vibrant spirit of North Antrim’s youth.

As the MLA prepares to deliver the prizes, the success of this year’s competition has already sparked discussions about future initiatives to engage the constituency’s young people. For now, the focus remains on celebrating the winners and the hundreds of pupils who brought a splash of colour to North Antrim this Easter.
