Detectives from the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) have formally named the three victims of the fatal shooting in Maguiresbridge as their murder investigation continues.

The deceased have been identified as 45-year-old Vanessa Whyte and her two children, Sara Rutledge, aged 13, and James Rutledge, aged 14. All three tragically lost their lives in the shooting incident earlier this week.

Detective Chief Inspector Neil McGuinness, who is leading the investigation, expressed deep sympathy for the bereaved family and friends.

“Today, our thoughts remain with those loved ones whose worlds have been torn apart,” he said.

As inquiries continue, police are urging anyone with relevant information to come forward.

“Our investigation is continuing and I am keen to reiterate our appeal for anyone with information to get in touch,” DCI McGuinness said.

“I am particularly keen to hear from anyone who had spoken to Vanessa, Sara or James over the last few weeks. If you are someone that Vanessa, Sara or James may have confided in, please come and speak to us.”

He emphasised that even seemingly minor details could be vital to the investigation.

“Any information, no matter how small or insignificant it may seem could prove crucial to our investigation.”

Anyone with information is urged to contact the police on 101, quoting reference 276 of 23/07/25, or submit a report online via www.psni.police.uk/makeareport.

Information can also be provided anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via www.crimestoppers-uk.org.
