Alderman Stewart McDonald thanks council workers for responding to local residents concerns over an overgrown hedge
Residents in the Mount Hilary area of Ballymena have seen an overgrown hedge cut back after concerns about its condition were raised with Mid and East Antrim Borough Council.
The work was carried out after local residents contacted TUV Bannside Alderman Stewart McDonald, who then brought the issue to council officials.
Residents’ concerns addressed
Following completion of the work, Alderman McDonald thanked council staff for what he described as their prompt response.
He said: “I want to place on record my sincere thanks to council staff for the speed with which they acted after I raised concerns about the overgrown hedge at Mount Hilary.
“Residents had contacted me about the issue and I raised it with council officials. I am delighted that the work has now been completed to such a high standard.”
McDonald said it was important to acknowledge good public service as well as highlighting problems when they arise.
“Too often we are quick to criticise when things go wrong, so it is only right that we also recognise the excellent work carried out by council staff when they respond promptly and professionally.
“The hedge has been cut, the area has been tidied up afterwards and the difference it makes to the appearance of the area is obvious.”
Recognition for residents and council staff
The councillor also thanked local residents for bringing the matter to his attention and praised the council workforce involved in completing the job.
He said: “I want to thank the residents who brought the matter to my attention and kept me updated. It is always encouraging to see concerns resolved quickly through good communication between the public, elected representatives and council staff.
“I also appreciate the council officers and workforce who got the job done so efficiently. Their efforts are valued and deserve recognition.”
The maintenance work has now been completed, addressing the concerns raised by residents and improving the appearance of the Mount Hilary area.
