Masked men armed with knife and metal bar attack man during burglary in Co Antrim

A man in his 30s was taken to hospital after being beaten with a metal bar and punched in the head during an aggravated burglary in Larne.

Detectives are appealing for witnesses and footage following the attack, which was reported in the Carson Street area at around 11.20pm on Sunday, 13 September.

Police said two masked men, both dressed in black with their faces covered, entered the property through the front door.

Detective Sergeant Crothers said:

“A report was received at approximately 11.20pm on Sunday, 13th September that two masked men, wearing all black and with their faces covered, entered a property through the front door in the Carson Street area.

“One of the men was armed with a knife, and the other proceeded to attack a man inside the house with a metal bar. He was struck several times to his hand and left leg.”

He added:

“The victim, aged in 30s, was also punched in the head a number of times – he required hospital treatment for his injuries.

“Both suspects made off from the scene with a set of keys from the property.

“Our enquiries are continuing to determine a motive and who was involved.”

Police appeal for CCTV and dash-cam footage

Detectives are particularly keen to hear from anyone who was in the Carson Street area and may have recorded footage or noticed suspicious activity.

Detective Sergeant Crothers added:

“We are keen to hear from anyone who may have CCTV, dash-cam or other footage of the area or who noticed suspicious behaviour. Please phone us on 101, quoting reference number 1651 13/09/26.”
