Motorcyclist in critical condition after serious Carnlough collision

A male motorcyclist remains in a critical but stable condition following a serious two-vehicle collision on Garron Road, Carnlough, on the evening of Thursday 19 June 2025.
The incident, which involved a motorcycle and a car, occurred shortly before 6.57pm, prompting a multi-agency emergency response.
According to the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service (NIFRS), three appliances were dispatched to the scene — one each from Cushendall, Carnlough, and Ballymena Fire Stations.
“Firefighters were called to reports of a road traffic collision involving a car and a motorbike at Garron Road, Carnlough,” a spokesperson for NIFRS confirmed.
“Firefighters treated one casualty at the scene using manual handling techniques and first aid and transferred them to the care of NIAS. Another casualty was left in the care of NIAS and transported to hospital.”
The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service (NIAS) also responded, providing on-site treatment before transferring the injured motorcyclist to hospital.
Sergeant Courtney from the Police Service of Northern Ireland said:
“Police received and responded to a report of a collision involving a van and a motorcycle shortly after 6.50pm.
“Colleagues from the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service and the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service also attended the scene.
“The male motorcyclist was taken to hospital for treatment for his injuries, where he remains in a critical but stable condition at this time.”
The scene was officially handed over to police and the incident was fully dealt with by 8.33pm, according to NIFRS.
Police have launched an appeal for information and are urging members of the public to assist their ongoing investigation.
“Enquiries are ongoing, and we would appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time, or who has any mobile phone or dash cam footage, to get in touch via 101, quoting reference number 1537 of 19/06/25,” Sergeant Courtney added.
The Garron Road, which was closed to allow emergency services to operate safely, has since reopened to the public.
