Ryder Cup icons and global golf legends set to descend on Borough in August 2025


Mid and East Antrim is set to take centre stage on the international golfing map once again as the inaugural Black Desert NI Legends event tees off at Galgorm from 27–31 August 2025.


The Legends Tour event, proudly backed by Mid and East Antrim Borough Council, will see some of the sport’s most iconic names aged 50 and over compete in a top-tier 54-hole professional tournament on the renowned Castle course.



Golfing fans can look forward to appearances by Ryder Cup greats Stephen Gallacher, David Howell and Peter Baker, as the prestigious tour adds yet another chapter to Galgorm’s already rich golfing legacy.

Mayor of Mid and East Antrim Councillor Jackson Minford said the event would deliver significant sporting, tourism and economic benefits to the area.


“I am thrilled to once again welcome elite-level golf to Mid and East Antrim. Our Borough has firmly established itself as a leading destination for sporting excellence and the Black Desert NI Legends event will be no exception.



“This is about more than golf – it’s about showcasing all our area has to offer, from our outstanding hospitality and accommodation providers to our vibrant local businesses. The economic benefits, through tourism, visitor spend and international attention, are significant and much welcomed.


“Galgorm continues to play a vital role in Northern Ireland’s golden era of golf and the Black Desert NI Legends event is another milestone in Council’s ongoing commitment to position ourselves firmly on the world stage and deliver lasting benefits for our Borough.”




A festival of golf for fans and families alike

The tournament week begins with a Celebrity Pro-Am on Wednesday 27 August, where spectators can watch legends of the game pair up with familiar faces from the worlds of sport, television and beyond. The professional tournament will run Friday 29 to Sunday 31 August.


Ross Oliver, Director of Golf at Galgorm, said the club is proud to be part of the Legends Tour journey:

Beyond the greens: Spectator Village and live entertainment


Fans can expect more than just world-class golf. A vibrant Spectator Village will provide a festival-style atmosphere with interactive golf zones, simulators, artisan food and drink, a themed bar, premium exhibitors such as Bentley, and a Galgorm pop-up retail shop.



There will also be live music, children’s activities, and family-friendly attractions, ensuring a well-rounded day out for visitors of all ages.


Tickets and information


Tickets are on sale now, with daily and weekly passes starting from £12.50, while children under 16 can attend for free. On-site parking is available throughout the tournament week.
