Luxury hospitality brand Marine & Lawn Hotels & Resorts has officially announced the opening of its latest property, Portrush Adelphi, marking its second hotel in Northern Ireland and sixth across the UK.

Situated in the heart of the iconic seaside town of Portrush, the newly restored 34-room property opened its doors on 21st April, just months before the town welcomes the 153rd Open Championship.

Located mere steps from the Atlantic coastline, Portrush Adelphi represents a significant milestone for Marine & Lawn as the group continues to build a portfolio centred around renowned golf destinations.

The opening underscores Portrush’s rising prominence as a global travel and sporting destination, amid a wave of increased tourism and local investment.

Originally acquired by Marine & Lawn’s parent company, AJ Capital Partners, in 2022, the property has undergone an extensive transformation.

The renovation has carefully preserved the building’s character while introducing a refined aesthetic and high-end amenities that align with the brand’s signature style. Interiors were overseen by AJ Capital’s in-house design team, whose brief was to draw inspiration from County Antrim’s rugged beauty and rich cultural heritage.

“We are delighted to expand Marine & Lawn’s footprint in Northern Ireland with the opening of Portrush Adelphi,” said Phillip Allen, President of Marine & Lawn Hotels & Resorts.

“True to the brand’s mission, the town of Portrush is an iconic golf destination, making it a natural fit for our portfolio. Portrush is experiencing strong tailwinds with rising tourism, increased investment, and the upcoming 153rd Open. We’re proud to bring our distinct approach to hospitality to such a dynamic destination.”

A Tribute to Heritage and Craftsmanship

Design elements throughout Portrush Adelphi reflect a deep sense of place. From the moment guests enter the lobby, they are greeted by rich mahogany herringbone floors, ornate columns, flourishing greenery, and a welcoming open fireplace – a nod to the warmth of traditional Irish hospitality.

Each of the 34 individually designed rooms is adorned with jewel-toned palettes, bespoke furnishings, and plush textiles.

Tartan upholstery and cable knit throws evoke a comforting, homely atmosphere, while bathrooms feature vibrant green tiles and custom wallpaper that echo the tones of the surrounding landscape.

Amenities include luxury toiletries by Floris, the world’s oldest independent family perfumer, aligning with Marine & Lawn’s celebration of craftsmanship and timeless elegance.

Introducing The Red Sail Room

Among the most anticipated features of the hotel is The Red Sail Room, a brand-new Italian dining concept that balances tradition with contemporary flair.

Open to both guests and locals, the restaurant offers a refined yet welcoming environment. Interiors showcase oak leaf wallpaper, whitewashed wood panelling, and oil paintings of the nearby sea and cliffs, while plush maroon velvet banquettes add a sense of quiet sophistication.

The menu emphasises fresh, local ingredients, with an array of Italian classics presented with modern finesse. An expertly curated wine list rounds out the offering, highlighting both Italian and international selections designed to complement the seasonal menu.

A Gateway to Northern Ireland’s Natural Wonders

Portrush Adelphi’s enviable location places guests at the heart of one of Northern Ireland’s most scenic regions. The town serves as a gateway to a host of natural and cultural attractions, from the dramatic cliffs of Dunluce Castle and the storied Bushmills Distillery to the world-famous Giant’s Causeway.

Outdoor enthusiasts can explore the area’s golden beaches – East Strand, West Strand, and Whiterocks – ideal for surfing, paddleboarding, and other coastal pursuits.

Of particular interest to golf aficionados is the proximity to Royal Portrush Golf Club, one of the world’s premier links courses and host of The Open in July 2025. Marine & Lawn’s concierge team offers support with golf bookings and can arrange bespoke itineraries as part of The Marine & Lawn Grand Tour, which links stays across the brand’s portfolio with exclusive tee times, culinary experiences, and more.

Part of a Growing Collection

Portrush Adelphi joins a growing collection of Marine & Lawn properties strategically positioned in legendary golf and leisure destinations across the UK. Other locations include Slieve Donard in Newcastle, County Down; Rusacks St Andrews in St Andrews; Marine North Berwick in North Berwick; Marine Troon in Troon; and Dornoch Station Hotel in Dornoch, Scotland.

Starting rates at Portrush Adelphi begin at £245 per night, inclusive of VAT and full Irish breakfast. All rooms are pet-friendly.
