Economy Minister Dr Caoimhe Archibald and Head of the Careers Service Justin Kerr encourage those seeking advice and guidance following exam results to contact the Department for the Economy’s Careers Service via telephone, webchat or email.

With GCSE results released today and A-level results published last week, Economy Minister Dr Caoimhe Archibald has encouraged young people and their families to make use of the Careers Service for guidance on their next steps.

The Minister emphasised the importance of accessing professional advice to make informed choices about the future.

She said:

“Making informed decisions following your exam results is crucial in helping you consider the next step on your journey.

“No matter what your results were, there are many opportunities available to you and I would urge you to examine these fully. You may wish to remain at school, or you might want to explore further education courses, start an apprenticeship or training programme or go into employment - my Department’s Careers Service can provide you with all the help and guidance you need.

“Whatever choice you make, I want to pass on my very best wishes for the future.”

Justin Kerr, Head of the Careers Service, echoed the Minister’s call, stressing the importance of professional advice.

He said:

“I strongly encourage students to speak with a Careers Adviser to help them make informed decisions about their future. Whatever your results today there are lots of options open to you and getting informed, up to date advice, will help you take the right next step.

“Young people and parents can find useful information on the Careers Service website at www.nidirect.gov.uk/campaigns/careers.

“If you need immediate support, our online webchat is available at www.nidirect.gov.uk/services/chat-careers-service. Just click the ‘Chat with Careers’ button, or call us on 0300 200 7820.”
