Man sadly dies following collision involving car and lorry

A 45-year-old man from Holywood has died following a road traffic collision involving a car and a lorry in Co Tyrone.

The collision happened on the Crossowen Road, Clogher, at approximately 12.40pm on Friday, 31 July.

Police said the crash involved a white MG HS car and a Volvo lorry. Emergency services, including the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service, attended the scene and medical treatment was provided to a number of people.

The driver of the MG HS, who has been named by police as Damien Paul Bintley, died a short time later as a result of his injuries.

Inspector Stewart, from the PSNI’s Collision Investigation Unit, said:

“We received a report at approximately 12.40pm on Friday afternoon, 31st July, of a collision involving a white MG HS car and a Volvo lorry on the Crossowen Road.

“Officers attended, alongside Northern Ireland Ambulance Service colleagues – and medical treatment was provided at the scene to a number of people.

“The driver of the MG HS car, 45-year-old Damien Paul Bintley from Holywood, sadly died from his injuries a short time later.

“We would like to hear from witnesses or anyone who may have captured dash-cam or other footage which could assist with our ongoing enquiries.”

Appeal for information

Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the collision and are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dash-cam or other video footage from the area around the time of the crash to come forward.
