Man arrested after cash, suspected drugs and paraphernalia seized in Co Down police search

A 31-year-old man has been arrested after police seized a large quantity of cash, a small amount of suspected Class B drugs and drug-related paraphernalia during a search of a property in Warrenpoint.

The search was carried out by officers in the Mourne Drive area on Monday, 27 July, as part of an investigation into suspected drug-related activity.

Cash and suspected drugs seized

According to the PSNI, officers from the District Support Team recovered a significant amount of cash alongside a small quantity of suspected Class B drugs and items believed to be associated with the supply of controlled drugs.

The 31-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of a number of drug offences, including possession of a Class B controlled drug with intent to supply.

Following questioning by detectives, he was released on police bail while enquiries continue.

It is important to note that an arrest does not imply guilt, and no charges have been brought at this stage.

Police appeal for information

Newry, Mourne and Down District Chief Inspector Adam Ruston said:

“Officers from our District Support Team seized a large amount of cash, along with a small quantity of Class B drugs and various drug-related paraphernalia.

“One man, aged 31, was subsequently arrested on suspicion of drug-related offences, including possession with intent to supply. Following interview, he was released on bail to allow for further enquiries.

“Our officers will continue to protect communities from the harm of illegal drugs. We would appeal to anyone who has information about suspected drugs activity in their area to call us on 101. Your information could make a difference.”
