Northern Ireland’s rapidly expanding sports-leisure scene has gained another boost with the opening of a new padel facility in Ballymoney, as the world’s fastest-growing racket sport continues to surge in popularity.

Let’s Go Padel officially opened its latest venue to the public on Saturday, 7 March, marking the company’s seventh location across Northern Ireland and a further step in its strategy to bring the rapidly growing sport to more communities.

The Ballymoney site joins an expanding network of venues in Ballyclare, Carryduff, Belfast’s Crumlin Road, Derry/Londonderry, Newry and Omagh, strengthening the brand’s footprint across the region.

Expansion already planned

The first phase of the Ballymoney development features one doubles court and one singles court. However, the company has already confirmed plans for further investment, with two additional doubles courts set to be installed later this year as part of a Phase 2 expansion.

The move reflects the strong demand for padel across Northern Ireland, where participation in the fast-paced sport has been growing steadily.

Pete Boyle, Founder of Let’s Go Padel, said the Ballymoney venue forms part of a wider vision to build a connected network of community-focused facilities.

“Padel is currently a global phenomenon, and Northern Ireland is proving to be a high-growth market for the sport,” he said.

“Our goal is to create a network of accessible, community-focused hubs that cater to the increasing demand for social fitness. Bringing Let’s Go Padel to the North Coast is a key part of our growth strategy, and we see immense potential in Ballymoney to build a strong, active membership base.”

A sport built for social play

Often described as the “social cousin” of tennis, padel is typically played in doubles on enclosed courts, combining elements of tennis and squash.

Its simple rules and accessible format mean beginners can quickly enjoy competitive rallies, helping the sport gain momentum among players of all ages and abilities.

The Ballymoney facility aims to introduce more people to both the physical benefits and the social side of the game.

Boost for the local sporting landscape

Alongside casual court bookings, the centre plans to offer professional coaching and organised group sessions, creating a dedicated space for both fitness and social connection within the local community.

With expansion already planned and interest in the sport continuing to grow, the new venue represents a significant addition to the North Coast’s sporting landscape.

Local residents and sports enthusiasts are being encouraged to visit the facility, try the courts and experience padel for themselves.
