The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for rain across Northern Ireland on Tuesday 11 November 2025, with forecasters warning of travel disruption and localised flooding throughout the day.
The warning is in place from 06:00 to 21:00 (UTC) and covers the entire region, as a band of persistent and at times heavy rain is expected to move in early Tuesday morning.
According to the Met Office, “a spell of persistent rain is expected to arrive across Northern Ireland early on Tuesday morning, with some heavy bursts developing at times especially during Tuesday afternoon and evening, before the rain clears late on.”
Rainfall totals are expected to reach 20–30mm widely, with some higher ground areas such as the Mourne Mountains potentially seeing 40mm or more over an 18-hour period.
Forecasters warned that within this general rainfall, there may be “periods with heavier bursts containing 10–20mm over a 1–3 hour period which could cause a few issues such as temporary surface water flooding and difficult travelling conditions.”
The Met Office also noted that stronger winds are likely to develop along parts of the eastern coast, compounding potential travel difficulties and increasing the risk of coastal disruption.
Motorists and commuters are being urged to allow extra time for travel and to exercise caution, particularly on routes prone to surface water accumulation.
The yellow warning means that flooding of roads and some properties is possible, and that public transport services could be affected.
