In the latest episode of Neven’s Ulster Food Tour, airing on RTÉ One at 8:30pm on Wednesday, 24th September 2025, award-winning chef Neven Maguire embarks on a captivating journey along the Antrim Coast and into Derry, celebrating the vibrant food culture and rich heritage of Ulster.


The fourth instalment of this six-part series sees Neven explore iconic landmarks, meet passionate food producers, and take on thrilling activities, all while showcasing the region’s world-class produce.

Neven, whose own MacNean House & Restaurant in Cavan was recently crowned Best Restaurant in Ulster 2025, brings his passion for Irish cuisine to the forefront.


Reflecting on the series, he shared:


“I was so excited to get back on the road for another food adventure, and this time I explored closer to home. Just around the corner is the border so I know Ulster a little, but I’ve never really explored it. I’m so pleased to dedicate a food series to Ulster for the first time.”



A taste of the Antrim Coast

The episode kicks off at the historic Glenarm Castle in Ballymena, where Neven meets estate manager Adrian Morrow.


Together, they wander through the castle’s picturesque gardens and encounter its renowned Shorthorn Beef Cows, a hallmark of the estate’s commitment to quality produce.


Neven embraces the glamping experience, staying in one of Glenarm’s Ocean View Pods and savouring the estate’s famous shorthorn beef, expertly cooked over an open fire.

The journey continues at the dramatic Dunluce Castle, where tour coordinator Mark Rodgers provides insights into its storied past.


Neven also faces the exhilarating challenge of crossing the Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge, a famously shaky structure that tests his nerve while offering breathtaking coastal views.


“I learned so much and met some amazing people and enjoyed some great activities,” Neven remarked, highlighting the blend of adventure and discovery that defines this series.



In Portrush, Neven visits Morelli’s, a fifth-generation family-run ice cream shop celebrated for its award-winning flavours. Chatting with owners Arnaldo and Danielle Morelli, Neven samples their delectable creations, which reflect the region’s dedication to culinary craftsmanship.

Venturing to Derry, Neven takes on a high-octane challenge at the Limitless Adventure Centre, navigating a hovercraft through a time-trial obstacle course.


This thrilling experience showcases Ulster’s reputation as a destination for both food and adventure.


“What excites me is the prospect for food in the future, and here in Ulster we have some of the best produce in the world,” Neven enthused, underscoring the region’s potential.


The episode culminates in a fine dining experience at Artis in Derry City, where Head Chef Phelim O’Hagan presents a tasting menu featuring seasonal, locally sourced ingredients.
