Driver sustains minor injuries after collision in Ballymena

A driver sustained minor injuries in a collision with another vehicle in Ballymena on Sunday afternoon, 7th May.


The accident happened at the junction of Fountain Place and Ballymoney Road. The garden wall of a house was also damaged during the incident.


Police closed the bottom of Fountain Place for a short time while the vehicle was recovered.



A spokesperson for the Police Service of Northern Ireland said:


"Police attended the scene of a two-vehicle road traffic collision at the junction of Fountain Place and Ballymoney Road of Ballymena this afternoon, Sunday, 7th May around 1pm.


"One of the drivers sustained minor injury in the collision and, as well as damage to the two vehicles, a perimeter wall outside a house was damaged.


"Enquiries continue."



Elsewhere on Sunday, emergency services attended a number of road traffic collisions across County Antrim.


Police advised shortly after 11am on Sunday morning that the Church Road area of Moorfields, Ballymena, had been closed due to a serious road traffic collision.


The road was closed for a number of hours but has since reopened.


Another collision occurred in the area of Glenariffe Forest Park shortly after 3pm this afternoon. It is understood a telegraph pole was hit during the incident bringing down overhead cables and making the road impassable.



Meanwhile, in Ballyclare police closed the Templepatrick Road between the junctions of Mill Road and Hillhead Road around 5pm after another serious road traffic collision.


There are no further details currently available of the condition of those involved in the collisions in Moorfields, Glenariffe, and Ballyclare. We will provide updates on our website and social platforms when they become available.
