Police have arrested a man on suspicion of driving offences – including suspected drink-driving – after a car collided with the wall of a property in Broughshane this morning.

Officers were called to the Knowehead Dale area at around 7.15am on Thursday 25 September following reports of a single-vehicle crash.

It is understood the car struck the wall of a property, causing substantial damage. The driver, a 52-year-old man, left the scene but was detained a short time later by police.

He was arrested on suspicion of driving-related offences, including suspected drink-driving, and remains in custody at this time. Fortunately, no serious injuries were reported.

A Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) spokesperson said:

“Enquiries are ongoing – and anyone who witnessed the collision or captured it on dash-cam or other footage is asked to contact police on 101, quoting reference number 173 25/09/25.”

Drink-driving remains one of the most common causes of serious road traffic incidents in Northern Ireland. Police have repeatedly appealed to motorists to never drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs, warning that such actions put both drivers and the public at risk.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
