Detectives investigating the deaths of three family members in Ballymena have renewed their appeal for information as inquiries into the tragedy continue.

A 39-year-old woman and her eight-year-old daughter were found dead alongside a 41-year-old man at a home in the Cullybackey Road area on Monday, 13 July.

Police previously confirmed they are treating the deaths of the woman and child as murder, while inquiries are continuing into the sudden death of the man.

Police say investigation continues

Detective Inspector Dickson, from the Police Service of Northern Ireland’s Major Investigation Team, said detectives remain focused on establishing the full circumstances surrounding what happened.

“It’s with great sadness that we confirm a woman, aged 39, and her young daughter, aged eight, were murdered.

“Our investigation into their murder, along with the sudden death of the 41-year-old man, will continue.

“I’m keen to offer assurance that there is no ongoing risk to the public, and we are not looking for anyone else in connection with our investigation.”

The reassurance that there is no wider threat to the public follows several days of extensive police activity at the property as specialist officers continue their work.

Family asks for privacy

Detective Inspector Dickson also spoke of the impact the deaths have had on both the victims’ loved ones and the wider community.

“My thoughts at this time are with family members and friends, who have understandably been left both shaken and heartbroken.

“This absolute tragedy has saddened the lives of so many, from loved ones to the wider community, and will be felt for many years to come.

“Family members, who are left trying to come to terms with their loss, have asked for privacy at this difficult time.”

Police are continuing to appeal to anyone who may have information that could assist the investigation to come forward, no matter how insignificant it may seem.

Anyone with information is asked to contact detectives on 101, quoting reference 482 of 13/07/26. Information can also be provided online via the PSNI reporting portal or anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

The investigation remains ongoing as detectives continue working to establish the full circumstances surrounding the deaths.
