Cyclists invited to ride for a cause as Tour of the Glens Charity Sportive returns next weekend

Cyclists from across Northern Ireland are being invited to take on one of the region’s most scenic charity rides next weekend, with every mile helping to raise money for people affected by dementia.
The Bann Valley Road Club Tour of the Glens Charity Sportive, supported by Clarke, returns on Saturday 15 August, offering riders the choice of 40-mile or 60-mile routes through the spectacular Glens of Antrim.
With all proceeds going to Alzheimer’s Society Northern Ireland, organisers are encouraging cyclists of all abilities to sign up and support the charity while enjoying a well-supported day on some of County Antrim’s most picturesque roads.
Ride through the Glens while supporting a vital cause
Starting and finishing at Clarke HQ on Raceview Road, Broughshane, the sportive is designed as an enjoyable challenge rather than a competitive race, beginning with a leisurely roll-out before riders tackle their chosen route.
Registration opens from 8.00am, with cyclists rolling out at 9.00am.
Entry costs £20, with every pound raised supporting Alzheimer’s Society Northern Ireland.
Online registration remains open until 10.00pm on Friday 14 August, although riders can also register on the morning of the event, subject to places remaining.
A maximum of 250 places is available.
Well-supported event for riders
Participants will be looked after throughout the day, with refreshments available during registration, a food stop provided on both routes and further refreshments waiting at Clarke HQ after riders complete their journey.
Organisers hope the event will once again attract cyclists from across Northern Ireland, combining the challenge of riding through the Glens with the opportunity to support an important cause.
Those taking part can choose between the shorter 40-mile route or the more demanding 60-mileoption, making the event suitable for a wide range of abilities and experience levels.
