Murdered Coleraine man Wayne Reid

Detectives investigating the murder of Wayne Reid in Coleraine have been granted a court extension to continue questioning three suspects as the inquiry remains ongoing.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland confirmed that on Sunday 18 January, detectives were given an additional 36 hours to question two women aged 39 and 33, and a man aged 41.

The three were arrested on suspicion of murder on Friday 16 January.

Police have also confirmed that a 19-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of murder on Saturday 17 January as part of the continuing investigation.

In a further update, a 28-year-old woman who had been arrested on suspicion of murder has been released on bail pending further police enquiries.

At this time, two women aged 45 and 38, along with a man aged 33, also remain in police custody.

The arrests and ongoing detention form part of an investigation being led by detectives from the PSNI’s Major Investigation Team into the death of Mr Reid, who was found dead at an address in the Society Court area of Coleraine earlier this month.

Police have previously stated that they believe Mr Reid may have been involved in an altercation in the days leading up to his death, and have appealed for witnesses or anyone with information relating to activity in the Society Court or Society Street areas between Thursday 8 January and Saturday 10 January to come forward.

The investigation remains active.
