A community consultation event is being held next week by Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council (CCGBC) ahead of planning proposals being submitted for a public realm enhancement scheme in Ballycastle.
The County Antrim coastal town has been earmarked for a facelift after funding was allocated through Department for Communities NI, which will enable significant upgrades of The Diamond area for the enjoyment of residents and visitors in Ballycastle.
This will not only enhance the area itself, but it will also benefit the surrounding area and provide an economic boost for businesses.
The key elements of the public realm improvement works will consist of the public enhancement of the Diamond area. This includes, pedestrianisation of The Diamond and the redirection of traffic flow to reduce the pedestrian and vehicular safety risks.
Materiality will be granite footpaths and kerbing within Castle Street, reinstatement works of Ann Street’s footpaths and resurfacing of asphalt footpaths on Fairhill Street.
The consultation launched in October 2023 with local representatives and community groups, and will continue through to 28th March 2024.
CCGBC is set to host a Pre-Application Community Consultation public drop-in event next week in the town on Thursday, 15th February, at Sheskburn House, Ballycastle. Anyone is welcome to drop in between 12:00pm and 7:00pm.
Presentation boards will be displayed during the event, providing information on the proposals.
Members of CCGBC along with the project design team will be available to answer any questions you may have regarding the development.
