Motorists travelling through Ballyclare tonight are being urged to plan ahead, with a key road set to close for several hours as investigators carry out further testing linked to a fatal collision.
Ballyeaston Road will be closed from 9.30pm tonight (Wednesday) until 1am on Thursday, 2 April, to facilitate scene testing as part of an ongoing investigation into a fatal collision which occurred in the area on Friday, 15 August, 2025.
The closure will affect the stretch of road from its junction with Lower Ballyboley Road to its junction with Victoria Road.
Overnight closure in place
Road users are being advised to seek an alternative route where possible during the overnight closure period.
The temporary restrictions are being put in place to allow investigators to safely carry out detailed scene testing as enquiries continue into the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash.
The closure is expected to remain in place for around three and a half hours before the road reopens in the early hours of Thursday morning.
For local residents and drivers using the route through Ballyclare, the disruption is likely to affect late evening journeys, with diversions or alternative local routes recommended.
Public thanked for patience
Authorities have thanked the public for their understanding while the work is carried out.
A spokesperson said road users should “seek an alternative route for your journey where possible” and thanked the public for their patience as the testing takes place.
The latest closure underlines that the investigation into the fatal collision remains active, with further forensic and scene examination work continuing months after the incident.
For Ballyclare and surrounding areas, drivers are encouraged to allow extra time for travel this evening and overnight.
